Borderstan Area Cancellations and Postponements

Update: The WaPo’s Going Out Gurus are keeping an updated list of cancelled events… Overall, WTOP has the best list I can find; it appears that many places are closing at noon today… The Federal government is also planning to let workers leave four hours early today—the unscheduled leave policy is in effect… A DC snow emergency goes into effect at 9:30 this morning—do you need to move your car?

For the Dupont-Logan-U Street area, here are cancellations and postponements due to the expected weekend snowstorm. We will leave this post at the top of the page and add to the list as we learn of Feel free to leave information in the comments section.

Friday

  • Artist reception at go mama go! is postponed until February 12.

Saturday

  • Shaw Dog park clean up is postponed; a new date will be announced.
  • Class at Greater Goods on U Street is cancelled.
  • “Essentials for Successful Meditation” workshop at Vajrayogini Buddhist Center is rescheduled to February 27.
  • All Kids Swim classes on Saturday and Sunday at the DC Jewish Community Center will be cancelled.  Make up classes will be scheduled at a later date.
  • From Circle Dog’s’ Facebook Page (17th Street Dog Park): “Due to the Snow Emergency declared by the city of DC, DPR will not be opening the Dog Park on Saturday or Sunday (this weekend) as they concentrate on making the roads safe and passable. FOR YOUR SAFETY, DO NOT SCALE THE FENCE OR ENTER THE PARK. We will post updates as we receive information from DPR or the city.”

Hopefully the plows really will be out in full force starting tonight and not wait until Sunday morning to get things cleared up. Definitely not the ideal weekend to have a baby due!

  6. Jessica says:

hm, hopefully the snow will magically clean that filthy dog park instead of relying on Circle Dogs to plan anything.

  7. Brad says:

@mattyillini Yes, we rock — except when, as happened in Snopocalypse I, the fine folk who work at our shops and restaurants can’t drive in from their homes elsewhere…

  8. mattyillini says:

Yes, but down here in the CITY part of the city, we can always walk out and buy something… no car needed!

  9. Avi says:

Up here in Partistan, we’re hunkered down with Bourbon and Netflix. Good luck Borderstanians.
