From Greater Greater Washington, “Then and now: The Dunbar Hotel”… the photo above shows the Campbell Heights apartment complex for senior citizens at the northeast corner of 15th and U Streets NW. Click here to see the old Dunbar Hotel. The hotel was important in segregated Washington because it was an elite hotel for African-Americans who were unable to stay in other similar hotels.
