Got home equity? Want to be a reality TV star? “My First Sale” is looking for DC applicants. (Luis Gomez Photos)
From Tom Hay
The producers of HGTV’s My First Sale are looking for first-time home sellers in the DC area for the series. The show’s rep said they are looking for “fun, motivated, high-energy people who are willing to share their first home sale experience on camera.” Taping is scheduled to begin “soon” and continue through winter of this year.
Interested reality-show stars will be required to share the process of selling their first home—from working with a realtor, prepping for the sale, negotiating and then sealing the deal. Applicants would need to fill out a questionnaire, disclosure and also be willing to share financial details of the sale with the HGTV audience.
This looks like a great opportunity for a Borderstan resident, particularly some of the owners who purchased houses east of 14th Street in the 1990s, to show a nationwide audience what a great long-term investment our neighborhood has been. Commercial development along P and 14th Streets in the last 10 years has finally bridged the gap to Dupont Circle, driven up prices in Logan Circle, and created a mountain of home equity for many first time buyers from the 1990s—if you are a homeowner, take our reader poll below.
