Weekend: BBQ Battle XXVIII on Pennsylvania Ave

Safeway's National Capital BBQ Battle XVIII is this weekend on Pennsylvania Avenue NW. (Archives)

From Alejandra Owens at One Bite At A Time.

Last weekend was the Beer, Bourbon and BBQ festival… and I was out. Of. Town. That’s just wrong and unfair.

After Cochon 555 I have to say that I really am hooked on these food festivals. What better place to eat than a place where the best cooks are putting out there best food and you can get your best belly-full of yum!?

Well, I can make up for missing out on last week’s fun and you can wait no more! Safeway’s National Capital BBQ Battle is here and it is this weekend.

Are you with me? Do you love BBQ? Hollar at me if you decide to go… I’ll undoubtedly be tweeting my undying love for all things pork from @frijolita.

Where?: Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 9th and 14th Streets. Closest Metro stop is Federal Triangle.

When?: Saturday 11 am to 9 pm, and Sunday 11 am to 7:30pm.

What?: BBQ… samples… for free… what more do you want? Ok, there’s also chef demonstrations, and fun and games for all.

How much?: $10 for adults, $5 for kids and the under 5-ers get in for free.
