Ted’s Bulletin and Matchbox Coming to Borderstan!

Good news for Borderstanis who love supporting local chains — the matchbox group is bringing two of their restaurants to our ‘hood.  For those in need of a chilly adult-beverage, Ted’s Bulletin will be bringing their shakes, the tasty homemade pop tarts and all the other goodies to us. Washington City Paper reports that restaurant will be one of two tenants at District Condos on 14th Street.  As things cool down, you can warm up with a woodfired pizza from Matchbox, also brought to our attention by Washington City Paper. That’s delicious news!

Casa Nonna, Gelato and Ice Cream Month

Keep reading to see some picks for other cold treats in the area.

Slasher Terrorizes Virginia

Hold that moving box, young lady. Before you flee for Virginia’s welcoming tax breaks, beware the box cutter slasher. In one of those stories that is so odd and scary it seems like “Law and Order” fodder, the The Washington Post warns of the man who is slashing young women in the buttocks. He’s now harmed a total of five women in a Fairfax mall. Shudder.

For some reason, the torch will travel through some of the United States as it journeys from Vancouver to London (guess the route was easier?). DCist has you covered with the map of the route. If anyone whines about traffic because of this tomorrow, I know of a mall you need to visit.

Grab the Bug Spray — West Nile in D.C.

That’s just lovely. The Department of Health says it has found West Nile virus in mosquitos in the district. The Washington Examiner has the quick report, along with some tips for residents to take out the nasty little buggers.
