Hankâ€™s Oyster Bar Set to Open Expanded Space
Well over a year after first announcing plans to enlarge Hankâ€™s Oyster Bar at 1624 Q Street NW, chef and owner Jamie Leeds says the newly expanded space will open on August 16. Leeds faced months of regulatory protest hearings over her efforts to expand the popular Dupont Circle dining spot. The newly expanded restaurant will include a private dining room on the second floor and additional outdoor seating. DCist has some preview photos and a overview of the new menu items.
SlutWalk DC Marchers Speak Out Against Victim Blaming
Protesters in D.C. joined the global protest against victim-blaming in sexual assault cases over the weekend. SlutWalk rallies have been held in cities around the world after a Toronto police officer said women should avoid dressing like sluts to avoid sexual violence. Saturdayâ€™s event in D.C. started in Lafayette Square and ended on the National Mall near the Washington Monument. The Washington Post has details on the march and rally.
New Comment Policy Gets Lots of Comments
Looks like the staff at Greater Greater Washington have said enough is enough. The blog, which focuses on urban planning in the D.C. metro area, has instituted a new comment policy to curb personal attacks on other commenters. The new policy addresses some popular taboos such as name-calling and impersonation. Naturally, the new rules have generated lots of comments. Too soon to tell if this will take all the fun out of reading GGW.
Donald Trumpâ€™s D.C. Address?
Lydia DePillis at the City Paperâ€™s Housing Complex blog has details on plans to redevelop the Old Post Office Building on Pennsylvania Avenue. Among those interested in the General Service Administrationâ€™s effort to revitalize the property is Donald Trump, who has a proposal for a luxury hotel. The GSA will announce the award later this year.
