The first of a series of public meetings on the future of the 17th Street NW corridor takes place Wednesday evening, 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Cobalt, 1639 17th Street NW. (Photo: Luis Gomez.)

The first of a series of planning meetings on the 17th Street NW corridor (which I believe is roughly from P to S) is tomorrow evening, Wednesday, August 5, at Cobalt, which is located on the third floor at 1639 17th Street NW. The city’s streetscape project begins this fall, so this is a timely discussion and meeting.

Here are details from ANC 2B Commissioner Jack Jacobson:

Join ANC2B and Historic Dupont Circle Main Streets next Wednesday, August 5 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for a Community Charrette on the 17th Street Corridor at Cobalt, 3rd floor, 17th and R Streets NW (above Level One Restaurant).

This will be the first of a series of meetings to study the 17th Corridor over the coming months. This open community meeting will discuss what businesses types are on 17th, what is needed, and how we want to develop 17th Street as a community moving forward, including how we can better promote the corridor for residents and businesses and how to mitigate the effects of the pending 17th Street streetscape project that will begin this fall.

Meetings to follow will focus on specific topics generated from this meeting! They may include such topics as parking, loading zones, zoning, vacant spaces, rent, promotion, festivals, etc. – Jack Jacobson, Commissioner, ANC 2B04 & Treasurer, ANC 2B.
