Weekend Violent Crimes in PSAs 208, 307

From Sgt. John McDonald of PSA 208… the following violent crimes occurred August 23-26 in in the Logan Circle and Dupont Circle neighborhoods (PSAs 208 and 307), but outside the actual Borderstan borders.

August 23 at 6:50 p.m.
Assault w/Intent to Rob: 1213 O Street NW
Case closed with the arrest of two suspects.

Victim, reports the suspects approached him from the rear and knocked him to the ground. The suspects started kicking and punching him in the face then demanded his wallet. The victim refused. One suspect then grabbed a brick and threw it at the victim without striking him. The suspects fled the scene and were last seen heading eastbound, on O Street NW. The victim sustained a laceration to the face and refused medical assistance. The suspects were stopped and positively identified in the 1400 block of 11th Street NW.

August 23 at 3:10 a.m.
Assault with Intent to Rob: 1622 18th Street NW
Case closed with the arrest of two suspects.
Two victims report that two suspects (1&2) approached them from the rear and and began to shove them to the ground. Suspect (1) grabbed victim (1) by her legs and began pulling her in the street while suspect (2) attempted to grab her purse. The attempt was unsuccessful. Victim (1) sustained lacerations to her right knee and forearm but refused medical assistance. Suspects (1&2) fled on foot eastbound in the 1700 block of R Street NW.

August 24 at 4:03 a.m.
First Degree Sexual Assault: 1300 Rhode Island Avenue NW
Case open.

Victim reports that she got into the vehicle of an unknown male at which time he drove her to an alley and forced her to have intercourse with him against her will. No lookout. The victim was transported to Howard University Hospital. No lookout was given.

August 24 at 7:20 a.m.
Robbery with Gun: 1628 Riggs Place NW
Case closed with the arrest of two suspects.

Victims report that while walking suspects (1&2) approached the victims. Suspect (1) produced a gun and pointed it at victim (1); suspect (2) searched him and took $15 from his back pocket. Suspect (1) then pointed the gun at victim (2); suspect (2) searched victim (2), but did not take anything off her person. The suspects fled northbound to S Street NW.

August 26 at 2:05 a.m.
Robbery (Snatch): F/O 1519 17th Street NW
Case closed with an arrest.

Victim reports while standing at an intersection waiting to walk across the street an unidentified. Suspect ran by and snatched his wallet at which time suspect takes $60 out of the wallet, leaves the wallet and flees in unknown direction. The victim then chased the suspect until MPD units arrived and were able to apprehend the suspect. Stolen, but recovered, were a wallet plus contents and $60.

    This seems like a lot of violent crime. Nice to see many quickly closed with arrests, but why do I feel that these miscreants are already back on the street? Wonder what Jack Evans is doing about all this — oh, that’s right, he’s in Denver drumming up more business for his law firm and I’m sure too busy to worry about violent crime in his ward.
