A gushing water main break at L and New Hampshire today. (Kimberly Bender)

Early this morning at about 11:30 am a water main broke, flooding parts of New Hampshire Avenue and L Street NW.

The District Department of Transportation has reported the following:

Due to a water main break at 22nd & L St NW, the following closures: 23rd & L St Eastbound, New Hampshire Ave & Washington Circle Northbound and 22nd St & K St NW Northbound. All traffic on 22nd St is being detoured onto K St NW Westbound.
