Dupont Circle’s Steam Cafe at 17th and R NW will add gourmet-style, Mediterranean pizza as well as a special carryout and delivery section to the shop.
According to owners Ghizlaine and Driss, the new section will be in the southwest corner of the cafe with a separate entrance on R Street. In addition to pizza, the shop addition will handle delivery and pick up.
In addition to being a coffee shop, Steam serves food throughout the day—breakfast items, crepes, sandwiches, salads. The best thing on the menu (in my opinion) are the croissants that they bake on site each morning.
The couple purchased Steam in early 2007. They hope to have the new business, including pizza, up and running in December.
