14th Street “Bomb” Ends Up Being Brown Purse

Police try to get a hold of the suspicious bag on the roof of the 7-ELeven at 14th and Rhode Island NW. (Luis Gomez Photos)

At approximately 12:05 pm, 14th Street was closed from N to P Streets NW. The Police Department received a call alerting them to a suspicious package on the roof of the 7- Eleven at 14th Street and Rhode Island Avenue NW.  The 7-Eleven was evacuated by police officers. Once the street was closed, all people were asked to remain inside the stores or buildings in the vicinty.

Fears that the object on the low roof on the front of the 7-Eleven were unfounded: it turned out to be just a brown purse. (Luis Gomez Photos)

Borderstan spoke to Officer  J. Munk, who was keeping people off the sidewalks. Fortunately, the scare ended up being a false alarm and the package appeared to be a brown purse, which had been tossed on top of the roof.

It would have been nice if they could have gotten rid of, for good, the homeless people standing in the doorway while they were there.
Don’t blame the police tho, blame the owner of the 7-11, she allows it. Thank God other convience store owners don’t allow it, hense why I shop there and not at 7-11.

Thank goodness it wasn’t a white handbag. Remember what Kathleen Turner did to Patty Hearst in “Serial Mom” for wearing those white shoes after Labor Day.
