Thank god. T street’s the last remaining decent post office in Downtown that is open on weekends.

14th and L and MLK (12th and Pennsylvania) are two of the worst post offices in the entire country. Neither’s open on the weekends either. To contrast, T Street and the Petworth stations are incredible.

Locating it in the Reeves Center is a great idea, but will they require us to show ID and go through a metal detector to buy stamps?

There are outside entrances to existing shops on the U Street side of the building. Turning that into a post office while maintaining security would seem to require building out the backs of those shops while security rear ingress and egress with fire doors of something like that. It can be done, and if the District wants to keep a Post Office in that neighborhood, it might have to be done.
