Connecticut Avenue is shining bright this time of year!

The 8,000 square feet the newly constructed median space on Connecticut Avenue, just south of Dupont Circle, is decorated with holiday lights and cheer for all of the city to see.

The Golden Triangle Business Improvement District and city officials recently finished the project of building the median, which reduces storm runoff, provides a safer crossing area for commuters and an creates a space for art installations, and celebrated its completion last week.

The artist of the current light project, Alex Cooper, was selected through a process managed by the District of Columbia’s Commission on the Arts and Humanities.

In recent months, the BID installed public artwork at both Farragut North and Farragut West metro stations as well as five different artistically designed bike racks throughout the neighborhood.
