Happy post-Inauguration, Borderstanians. The hordes have left town and today I felt an eerie calm descend on the city. After gonig to the National Mall for the Inaugural ceremony, we had the good fortune to attend the Neighborhood Ball at the D.C. Convention Center last night. It was televised live by ABC and was an “official” ball… the first of 10 balls that President and Mrs. Obama attended.

In fact, the Obamas had their first dance as President and First Lady at Neighborhood Ball with Beyoncé singing Etta James’ famous song, “At Last.”  Click here to see a high-quality video on YouTube with Beyonce and the Obamas–it’s beautiful.

Here is some video that I shot toward the end of the Obamas’ appearance at the ball (slightly more than 2 minutes). At the beginning, the Obamas are dancing onstage with a group of people (this part of the video is choppy because my hand was not steady). However, the last part of the video is of President Obama addressing the crowd.

In addition to Beyoncé, the line up of stars at the Neighborhood Ball was amazing: We heard Stevie Wonder, Jay-Z, StingAlicia Keys, ShakiraFaith Hill, Mary J. Bligewill.i.am, Mariah Carey and saw Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio an Ray Romano . President Obama was introduced by Denzell Washington.

Note: This video was shot on a small handheld camera with video function, and it is raw footage, so please be kind to me. Also, it may take a few seconds for the video to download before it plays smoothly.

Enjoy.
