There seems to have been a spike the last week or two in gun robberies on the streets of Dupont-Logan and even right here in Borderstan (postings here, here, here and here). What got the most attention was the fact that the R Street corridor had three robberies–all involving guns–this past week.

Robberies always spike in the summer, but it seems summer has come early this year. The truly disturbing part is the use of handguns. The MPD Web site has tips on how to guard against robbery and assault. Read them!

Robbery and assault are serious crimes. While money is often the motivation, these incidents are considered crimes of violence because they involve the threat or actual use of physical violence.
