Here are some suggestions of things to do during the weekend in Borderstan, really close by or in the city.

Lalibela Restaurant at 1415 14th Street NW is a favorite of the Ethiopian food enthusiasts around the area. It has a wonderful atmosphere at a good value with with live music featuring traditional songs during the weekends.

Komi Restaurant, at 1509 17th Street NWis regarded as one of the best restaurants in the city. The Washingtonian ranked it Number 3 on its list of 100 Best Restaurants. It has a prix-fixe menu and is wonderful for a very special celebration.

Seven Takes” is at the Touchstone Gallery at 407 7th Street NW. It is an exhibition showcasing works of Charlie Dale, Anthony Dortch,
Joshua F. Gomez, Leslie Johnston, Peter Karp , Newton More and Michelle Rogers. It explores different media and a wide range of subjects.

Walead Beshty is at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden at Independence Avevnue & 7th Street SW. Her work, “Legibility on Color Backgrounds,” is a wonderful exhibition of colors and photograms plus sculpture pieces. A must see.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” is showing at the Church Street Theater, 1742 Church Street NW. The play takes Ken Kesey’s novel and “turns it into a devastating and unforgettable story with a very well done production and great performances.”

Cabaret Carousel” plays at the Source Theater, 1835 14th Street NW: “Broadway, Blues and Bossanova’s evenings of cabaret.” Don’t miss what promises to be a night of wonderful musical performances.

“Nationals Baseball Family Day” is Saturday July 18 at 11:30 a.m., at the Smithsonian American Art Museum at 8th and F Streets NW. It is a perfect opportunity to grab the kids and have fun with the local team–and enjoy the museum.

Stone Temple Pilots play Sunday, July 19 at the Merriweather Post Pavilion, Baltimore/Washington corridor off Route 29 in Columbia, Maryland. The perfect concert to end the weekend.
