MPD Lt. Scott Dignan has returned to head Police Service Area 208, which covers the Dupont Circle area and part of Kalorama. He was head of PSA 208 before Lt. Erich Miller, who left MPD in mid-June for a job with the federal government.
Sgt. John McDonald, who served as Acting PSA Commander since mid-June, will remain in PSA 208.
West Borderstan (west of 15th Street NW) is in PSA 208.
The following message is from Dignan regarding his return to 208:
I look forward to returning to PSA 208, after serving as a lieutenant in a specialized unit. While serving as PSA 208 Lieutenant, we accomplished many goals–decreased crime, increased community outreach and created strong private police partnerships.
In addition to these successes, we also pioneered new innovative ways of addressing community issues as well as increasing information sharing. Not only did we collaborated as a community to make our PSA safer by involving the businesses and organized groups, but we also sought contemporary ways to reach unconventional groups, such as the Borderstan Community and the many Dupont community groups.
Due to our hard work, we were able to create a community voice, so your issues would be better resolved. I look forward to having the honor of serving you again and leading these outstanding officers. As with my previous years as your lieutenant, I will exhaust every resource and will work with each of you to ensure we are doing all we can do to protect and make PSA 208 safer.
I look forward to revisiting some of my previous relationships with you and your organizations. In addition to continuing where we left off, I will also continue to progress with strengthening our already excellent working partnerships by welcoming more partnership opportunities.
After meeting with our hard working officers, I will be out to visit you. If would you like to contact me to schedule a meeting, please email me at [email protected] and we will arrange a time. – Scott P.
