A couple of events in Borderstan this Thursday, September 3:
  • New Dog Park Ribbon Cutting at 4 p.m. First, the really important stuff. The two newly renovated parks on 17th-New Hampshire NW are opening. There is a ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. for the new dog park, bounded by 17th-S-New Hampshire NW. Mayor Adrian Fenty and the director of Parks and Recreation, Ximena Hartsock, are scheduled for the event. (Of course they are scheduled to come; dogs are important in a neighborhood such as Dupont-Borderstan.) Personally, I am excited about the artificial turf and how our dog will react to it. Oh, yeah, the smaller people park that is kitty-cornered from the dog park at 17th-T-New Hampshire NW will reopen, too.
  • Meet and Greet for Clark Ray, 7 to 9 p.m. Jack Jacobson (ANC 2B-04) is hosting a meet-and-greet for city council candidate Clark Ray from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Cairo.  Ray is running in the Democratic primary in 2010 against incumbent Phil Mendelson for an At-Large seat on the DC Council. The event will be on the roof deck of The Cairo, 1615 Q Street NW.  RSVP to Jacobson. (Full disclosure: I know Ray and am supporting him.) Meet and Greet for Clark Ray, 7 to 9 p.m. at The Cairo hoted by Jack Jacobson (ANC 2B-04)

Note to Borderstanians: When you hold an event for a candidate for local office, send me the information and I will try to include it with other neighborhood blurbs.
