The MidCity Business Association’s annual holiday party and fundraiser drew approximately 100 people to Local 16 last evening. The organization represents businesses in the 14th Street and U Street corridors.
Local performer, Gallactica, provided talent. According to her bio, “Special Agent Galactica is one part sultry songstress, one part enchanting temptress, one part retro-rock chick, one part government spy, two parts vodka, and four parts audio mixing. She electrifies the stage with her swelling interpretations of the music that we love, the music we’ve never heard, and the music that says–is that music? Not ever to be mistaken for a drag show, Galactica enchants while she works her way through an eclectic evening of song, dance, and banter leaving her audiences exulted and on their feet at the end!”
Personally, I was impressed by the fact that Gallactica had her dress custom made; I thought the look was very Betty Draper (“Mad Men”). Glactica is also known as Jeffrey Johnson, artistic director for ganymede arts, “the glbt arts company of dc.”
