Monday Night on S Street: Stolen Auto, Crash, Arrests

If you heard lots of commotion, thought you heard a car chase and then heard cars colliding on Monday night on S Street between 11th and 13th… you were not imagining things. Here is the MPD 3rd District report:

On Monday, January 11, 2010, at approximately 10:00 PM, officers were taking a report for a stolen auto, when the officers observed the auto pass them. The officers effected a traffic stop on the vehicle at 11th and S St. NW. When the officers attempted to remove the suspects from the vehicle, the vehicle fled westbound on S St. towards 13th St. NW. The vehicle passed through the redlight at 13th and S St. NW, where it struck a vehicle traveling north on 13th St. NW. Officers arrived on the scene and placed the subjects under arrest for stolen auto and assault on a police officer. The 2 suspects and 2 citizens from the other vehicle were transported to area hospitals for non life threatening injuries. The investigation continues by members of the Third District.

I remember the days, 15 or so years ago, when this type of thing seemed to happen about once a week.
