by Borderstan.com — February 3, 2010 at 7:29 am 4 Comments

There was another robbery near the 17th Street corridor, this time on Monday night around 9:30 p.m. The crime occurred on the 1600 block of P Street; details below the fold. This follows two robberies on Friday evening near this high foot-traffic area.

There was also a daytime robbery on the 1500 block of U Street NW on Sunday around 12:30 p.m. As we have noted before, these types of robberies happen on U Street and they seem to happen all too often during daytime hours.

Following are crimes of note–robberies, assaults, burglaries and stolen autos–that occurred between January 27 and February 1 in the Dupont-Logan-U Street area. We will have a roundup of official crime stats later in the week for the area.

The complainant fell to the ground and the suspects stole $200 from him. The suspects ran in an unknown direction. The complainant was unable to provide a description of the suspects.”

This is a closed case.” Note: This was the Safeway on 20th Street and donations for Haiti earthquake victims were stolen.

  1. Thank god this happened at 16th & P. This means Glover Park got another small reprieve from the terror of city living, and Mendelson was spared another anxious day of wondering if crime really might be a legislative issue.

Seriously though. 16th & P? That is brazen, and the worst part, is that these street crimes, as of late, have gotten more and more brazen, and are occurring in more open places and highly trafficked places!

  2. Actually, I believe Mendelson lives in Cleveland Park.

  3. I’m befuddled at the ineptitude of our city’s leadership, regardless of their geography, to tackle crime in a serious manner. This includes Chief Lanier. Why methods that work in other jurisdictions aren’t employed here is shocking. I know these people talk to each other. I know that there are seminars and conventions that law enforcement personnel go to.

Hard to believe that these happened at 15th and U and 16th and P. I’ll definitely be more careful about whipping out my iPhone now, even in the middle of the day.
