Today is Earth Day 2010, the 40th Anniversary of the first Earth Day. The Earth Day 2010 Action Center has a list of events in the DC area. Closer to home, here are some Earth Day events in the Dupont-Logan-U Street area on Thursday.

Socialize Better is holding “Historic Green,” an Earth Day Happy Hour at Stoney’s, 1433 P Street NW, 6 to 9 p.m. Proceeds will benefit Historic Green, a zero carbon community being built in the heart of New Orleans. Donation is $3, but Socialize Better encourages the donation of “an old electronic: “In the spirit of recycling we will be accepting old unwanted electronics- phones, PDAs, mp3 players, laptops, digital cameras etc, all those things you don’t quite know what to do with once you’re done with them, to be professionally and eco-thoughtfully recycled.

Green Hour at Busboys and Poets, 5 p.m. to midnight. All three locations, including 14th and V Streets NW. B&P is offering “sustainable spirits.”

Urbana (in Hotel Palomar) at 2122 P Street NW is holding GreenDrinks DC Official Earth Day Happy Hour from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (Hat tip to Free in DC, where you can always find listings of things to do that are either free or cost less than $10 and are Metro accessible.)
