Mystery City #8… what city is this? (Luis Gomez Photos)

We bring you Mystery City #8 from Luis’ collection of world travels. Make you your selection below. We will have the location of this city on Friday. Hints: Luis has traveled extensively in the Americas, Europe and Australia… with a few other stops here and there.

The poll with the five city options is located in the lower section of the right-hand navigation bar (we are still working out the reader poll settings in our new design).

Previous Mystery Cities have been included Caracas, Valaparaiso, Sydney, Bratislava, La Paz and Santiago and Long Beach.

  1. Looks like Chicago Loop area, looking north from downtown… from the lake side.

  2. It may look like Chicago, but does the actual shape of the skyscrapers on the photo match those on the ground?

I believe that, if you go to Google Maps, zoom down on Roy Thomson Hall in the relevant city, and look to the northeast, you will find skyscrapers in the correct shapes and alignment, especially the two towers in the lower right-hand corner that are at 45-degree angles to the street grid (except that I actually think the photo has been inverted left-to-right).

  3. This is Toronto – the unmistakable Royal York Hotel, the Toronto Dominion Centre Tower, the Bank of Montreal Tower.
Luis, where were you when you took this photo?
