Mystery City #8 is Toronto, Ontario. (Luis Gomez Photos)

This week’s mystery city is Toronto, Ontario, the choice of 55% of readers who voted in the poll. The other cities on the list of choices were Chicago (15%),  Frankfurt (15%), Montreal (12%) and Sydney (3%).

Luis took this shot of downtown Toronto from atop the CN Tower, which opened in 1995 and bills itself as the world’s tallest tower: “Besides serving as a telecommunications hub, the Tower provides world-class entertainment and a wide range of unique attractions, exhibits and food and beverage venues.”

Previous Mystery Cities have been included Caracas, Valaparaiso, Sydney, Bratislava, La Paz, Santiago and Long Beach. We will have Mystery City #9 from Luis next Tuesday.

  1. Are you sure this was taken from the CN Tower? Looking at the photo, that doesn’t seem right as it is west of the Royal York Hotel. Could it have been taken from the Novotel?

  2. Luis assures me that it was taken from the CN Tower.

  3. H:

The reason for the confusion is that Luis’s photo has been reversed left-to-right (i.e., you need to hold a mirror against the side of the picture to see it in its correct orientation).

For other pictures of how the Toronto skyline looks from the CN Tower, compare these shots:
