Gallery Weekend: 2 Exhibits Open, 2 Exhibits Close

It’s a great weekend in the Logan-U Street area to take in new exhibits at art galleries, with two openings (and receptions) on the menu. Two exhibits also close this weekend, one of them an extension. Details below, with the full listing, are below the fold.
Openings
At Irvine Contemporary on 14th Street NW, “Picture Planes:” Robert Mellor and Alexa Meade & Gaia, “The Urban Romantic” opens Saturday with a reception from 6 to 8 pm along with a book signing by Gaia.
At The Hamiltonian on U Street NW, “Private Practice: Bad Ideas, Dead Ideas and Guilty Pleasures” featuring multiple artists opens with a 7 to 9 pm reception on Saturday.
Closings
“How to Get Off a Well-Traveled Road…” featuring the works of Alex Todorovich at the Joan Hisaoka Healing Arts Gallery on U Street was extended another week and closes Saturday.
At gallery plan b, the last day is Sunday for “Works by Karen Hubacher” and “Works by Tory Cowles.”
