Gifts for the Homeless Black Cat Borderstan

Thursday, June 24 at the Black Cat.

“Chicago-style voting” is on tap Thursday night at the Black Cat for the annual fundraiser to benefit Gifts for the Homeless. You can “vote early and often” in support of your favorite band as 12 bands battle it out for best band.

The organizers are promising a dozen local bands who will compete to raise the most money from the crowd. Admission is $10 and doors open at 7 pm and the event runs to 12:30 am.

Just after the stroke of midnight, one band will be crowned champion for having raised the most money from the crowd through “Chicago-style” voting, where each dollar equals one vote. (Vote early and often!)

Last year’s concert raised more than $100,000 and used 100% of it to buy blankets and essential clothing items for DC’s homeless, which was delivered to more than 30 local shelters. The down economy this year is making everything harder on the homeless so it is more important than ever for everyone to come out, have a fun night at a great nightclub, and donate/vote for a wonderful cause!

In addition to the group’s website, Gifts for the Homeless has a great Facebook Page where you can get more information.
