“Portrait of a Road Tattoo” at gallery plan b
Gallery plan b has a new exhibit, “Portrait of a Road Tattoo,” and you can meet artist Steed Taylor tonight from 6 to 8 pm at the gallery, 1530 14th Street NW. His Road Tattoos are expansive painted designs on streets or highways that commemorate the struggles of individuals and communities. Over the past decade, Taylor has been commissioned to create numerous Road Tattoos across the country and in China, each addressing its own theme or issue.
Taylor’s exhibition at gallery plan b runs through July 25 and includes installations of several completed Road Tattoos. Each display includes text from the prayers used in the blessing, sketches of the design, and photos of the project. The installations are accompanied with other works in various media on the same theme.
