The do-it-yourself dog washing salon at 1722 Florida Avenue NW has a new owner, with a grand opening scheduled for tomorrow, June 26. PetMac LaundroMutt has been purchased by Fur-Get Me Not, a family owned business with a location in Arlington that offers a wide range of dog care services. You can also find them on Facebook.
Current hours of operation are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 am to noon, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 8 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 6 pm.
According to the owners, renovations are underway at the store. At do-it-yourself dog washing facilities, you bring your dog and everything is provided for you–but you wash your dog, not an employee of the store. Of course, do-it-yourself dog washes are cheaper than paying a groomer.
Benefit for Homeward Trails
Tomorrow’s grand opening of Fur-Get Me Not will also include a charity dog wash, which will benefit Homeward Trails. From 9 am to noon, all proceed benefit Homeward Trails, and from noon to 6 pm 50% of proceeds go to the animal charity. In addition, Homeward Trails will hold a pet adoption event at Fur-Get Me Not from 10 am to noon tomorrow.
Homeward Trails Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization that provides pet adoption in VA, DC, and Maryland. They find homes for dogs and cats rescued from high-kill animal shelters or whose owners could no longer care for them.
In addition, Pigment Art Studio hosts an art play station for kids at Fur-Get Me Not from 10 am to 4 pm tomorrow. Pigment Art Studio is an Adams Morgan based business focused on providing a platform for communication, collaboration and motivation among young artists in the local comm unity by offering accessible high-quality art instruction. They offer kids, family, and adult art programs among their many services.
