14th & U: PETA Protests Poultry Slaughter Methods
On Saturday People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) held a small demonstration in front of the McDonald’s restaurant at the corner of 14th and U Streets NW. According to Katie Arth, D.C. Organizer for PETA, the protest was about a slaughtering process that McDonald’s poultry suppliers use. Arth said that other slaughter methods could be used that are less cruel to the chickens.
PETA’s DC offices are located in the area, on 16th Street NW.
