On ANCs, liquor licenses and voluntary agreements. Two good pieces on DC’s Advisory Neighborhood Commissions and their role in liquor licenses, voluntary agreements with businesses–and the expansion of Hank’s Oyster Bar at 17th and Q NW. The two posts: “Knee-jerk liquor license opposition undercuts credibility” by Dave Alpert of Greater Greater Washington… and read Ben’s post over at 14th & You, ““Voluntary Agreements” – Necessary or NIMBYism?” He gives a good rundown on what is happening at several different ANCs around the area with regarding to small business oversight and VAs.
