Green Pets Plans Include Store at 1410 14th St.
From Tom Hay
Pet owners in the Dupont and Logan Circle neighborhoods will be happy to know that while Green Pets / Dogs by Day has big expansion and moving plans in the works, they’re not going far.
The popular pet supply store and doggie daycare center at 1724 14th Street NW has plans to open a new location at 1711 Florida Avenue NW. They also plan to relocate the Logan Circle store to the former Mar De Plata location down the street at 1410 14th Street NW, between Rhode Island and P; it will be called Planet Pets.
You will recall Mar de Plata relocated to 1827 Jefferson Place NW, south of Dupont Circle in 2009.
Act Globally Think Locally
Owner Linda Welch said she plans for an October 1 opening for the Florida Avenue location, and early October for the 14th Street location, pending approval of permits. The 1410 14th Street “boutique” will offer an expanded selection of pets supplies, including many items from local suppliers, the location will also offer grooming. The business also plans on changing their name to Planet Pets, a nod to the “act globally, think locally” trend.
South of P Development Continues
Green Pets’ move continues the trend of activity on the blocks of 14th between P Street and Thomas Circle. We recently reported on the Logan 14 Salon & Spa at 1314B 14th, and the restaurants Teakwood at 1323 14th and Italian Cinema at 1404 14th.
