The September meeting of Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 2B is tonight at 7 pm at the Brookings Institutions, 1775 Massachusetts Avenue NW. ANC 2B meetings are normally held on the second Wednesday of the month.
Among the items on tonight’s agenda are (1) an application by St. Thomas Episcopal Parish, 1772 Church Street NW, to HPRB for new sanctuary construction; and (2) Consideration of Resolution in Support of Application of Peter Waddell for public arts grant to paint a mural on the blank wall at 1914 Sunderland Place NW (south of Dupont Circle).
It will be interesting to see whether the resolution supporting artist Peter Waddell‘s Sunderland Place mural draws support or opposition at tonight’s meeting. Public murals got attention in August when the P Street Whole Foods painted over a mural by artist Gaia in the alley behind the grocery store. The piece was created in conjunction with Gaia’s exhibit at Irvine Contemporary on 14th Street NW, which is adjacent to the alley. However, the Sunderland Place mural differs from the Gaia piece in that an official application has been filed for the mural.
The complete agenda is at 2B’s website.
