Restaurant Profile: Veritas Wine Bar
From Alejandra Owens at One Bite At A Time
When Veritas opened awhile ago I was thrilled that my new neighborhood bar was going to be a dark little wine bar serving up cheese plates and charcuterie.
It was the wine bar rush and I was just happy to have one within walking distance of my apartment. I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad time there–and when it first opened, I went a lot.
Now fall is upon us and that means the mad rush to get in some patio dining, or in this case sipping, before it gets too cold. Located at Connecticut and Florida Avenues NW, Veritas has a table out there with your name on it! What do you guys think? Been much?
Veritas Wine Bar
Where Am I Going: 2031 Florida Avenue NW (intersection of Florida and Connecticut Avenues NW).
When Am I Going: Open daily 5 pm to last call.
Paycheck Pain: Glasses of wine will run you the standard $9 to $16, but the flights provide bang for your buck. For $13 to $20 you can try three glasses of wine, champagne or dessert wines.
Say What?: Depends on the hour you go, but Thursday-Saturday nights can get a little loud. In other words, go for a vibrant, lively environment… not a quiet wine-sipping date.
What You’ll Be Eating: What’s wine without cheese? Cheese plates, charcuterie, dips and spreads, and chocolates are all served… all for around $10.
