Gray, Kwame, Mendelson Win; How Did Your Precinct Vote?

Election day morning at Precinct 16, 15th and R Streets NW: Fenty got 45% of the vote citywide, but 74% in Precinct 16. (Luis Gomez Photos)
Most of the votes are in from yesterday’s DC Primary vote. No surprises: Gray beat Fenty 54% to 45% and Kwame Brown defeated Vincent Orange 55% to 39% with Dorothy Douglas taking 5%. Phil Mendelson easily survived his race for At-Large Council despite fears he might lose to Michael D. Brown due to name confusion. The general election is November 2, but in one-party town, yesterday’s Democratic Primary was the vote that mattered.
In Ward 1 incumbent Jim Graham easily won his Democratic Primary race with 57% of the vote. Challengers Jeff Smith and Bryan Weaver each got 21% of the vote. All 16 precincts in Ward 1 have reported their vote totals. Most of the U Street neighborhood is in Ward 1.
