Teak Wood restaurant did a soft opening Thursday. Manager Benn Natao said they are still putting the finishing touches on the Thai and Sushi eatery at 1323 14th Street NW. They hope to do an official grand opening this coming week, after the liquor license is granted.

“Appetizers run $7 to $9 and entrees are in the $13 to $20 range,” Natao said.

Unlike some of the trendy new restaurants that have opened recently on the 14th Street corridor, Teak Wood accepts reservations and is open for lunch. The restaurant website is not up yet, but you can call them at 202-290-1856.

Hours are Monday through Thursday 11 am to 10 pm; Friday 11 am to 11 pm; Saturday noon to 11 pm; and Sunday noon to 10 pm.

  1. Always happy to have more food options near my office!!

  2. Very glad to hear they take reservations. So many of those new places just love to have the lines outside. Guess they think it adds to their popularity buzz, but I often avoid them.

  3. So true! And don’t you feel like it drains the fun out of an evening to sit and wait for an hour? I run out of things to say. And inevitably, the hype fades over these new places and you can eventually just walk in. Ahem: Masa 14, Birch and Barfy, and please take note, Estadio (at $200 for dinner, your days of glory are numbered!)

  4. Am I the only one that gets creeped out by a restaurant in the same building as a gay sex club?
I love and support my gay brothers but I’m not feeling eating dinner while they are boinking each other in mass in the same building.

At least I don’t see any chair cushions in the restaurant so the bed bugs may not venture over, may not.

    lol, creeeeeepy.
