What do steak, drag queens and snow have in common? Get those dirty minds out of the gutter, they are all stories you may have missed yesterday!

Redistricting: When, How and Why

Look for the City Council meetings to heat up, as members are slated to receive Census information that will impact how ward lines are redrawn for the next election. The Washington Examiner reports changes are likely to be lesser than the previous round of redistricting due to a relatively stable population in the District.

YMCA Demolition Starts

U Street Girl has photos of yesterday’s demolition finally beginning. The vacant YMCA at 14th and W Streets NW is slated for new development.

Clear Your Sidewalk, or Pay Up

TBD reported that City Council Members Mary Cheh (D-Ward 3) and Tommy Wells (D-Ward 6) introduced a bill that would allow agencies to ticket homeowners and business owners that fail to clear their sidewalks. There are a few establishments along U Street that stood out for their lack of shoveling last year, so this aficionado of clear sidewalks and safe stumbles to the bar in the snow hopes it passes.

Drag Queen Plans TV Show

Shi-Queeta-Lee announced plans to launch a drag-based reality show yesterday to TBD‘s Amanda Hess. Lee hopes to raise $5,000 for the initial project. You can sometimes find Ms. Lee at Nellie’s Sports Bar hosting Drag Bingo… or on weekends at Town Danceboutique.

Changes in the Kitchen at Bourbon Steak

No, it’s not quite in Borderstan territory, but I for one will travel for a nice piece of meat (double entendre fully intended). Our own Alejandra at One Bite at a Time broke the news that Chef Adam Sobel is in as Chef David Varley of Bourbon Steak is headed to corporate chef-dom at Michael Mina’s empire in California, as reported by the Post.
