“Pocket Opera” Closes Saturday at Source
There are four shows in the neighborhood this weekend. The lone closing is the In Series’ “Pocket Opera” at the Source on 14th Street NW.
The two mini operas are Ernesto Lecuona’s María la O and Ruggiero Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci [Clowns]:
“In the Cuban zarzuela María la O, an aristocrat must choose between the mulatta he loves and a white woman. In Pagliacci, a troupe of comedians comes to a village where their show intertwines tragically with real life. The In Series sets both shows in the 1950s!”
