Crimes of Note; Smash-and-Grabs on the Map

The following is a list of robberies, assaults, sex crimes, drug crimes, stolen autos and burglaries in the Dupont-Logan-U Street area over the past week.

Crimes are from police reports for Police Service Areas (PSA) 208 (Dupont-Kalorama), 305 (includes U Street area) and 307 (Logan Circle).

Robbery

• Wednesday, February 23, 11:42 pm, 1900 block of 13th Street NW.
• Saturday, February 26, 1:33 am, 19th and R Streets NW: “The victim reported that while walking in the listed area he was approached by several subjects who started to punch him causing him to fall to the ground. The suspects then searched through his backpack and took his laptop computer. All four suspects were last seen running eastbound in the 1700 block of R Street NW.”

• Saturday, February 26, 9:24 pm, 1500 block of Church Street NW.
• Sunday, February 27, 6:40 pm, 1600 block of 20th Street NW (restaurant).

Assault with a Deadly Weapon

• Saturday, February 26, 1:35 am, 1500 block of S Street NW: “The victims reported that while walking past four unknown subjects, one turned and shouted degrading remarks. All four subjects approached the victims and one of them struck each victim repeatedly, causing them to fall to the ground. A second suspect punched the victims while they were on the ground. A passing MPD unit was flagged down and one of the suspects was arrested on the scene.”

• Sexual Abuse, Friday, February 25, 9:57 am, 2200 block of 12th Street NW.

Burglary

• Thursday, February 24, 2 to 3:40 pm, 1800 block of S Street NW (residence).
• Thursday, February 24, 2:30 to 3:23 pm, 1800 block of S Street NW (residence).
• Thursday, February 24, 2:30 pm to 9 am, 1800 block of 11th Street NW (residence).
• Thursday, February 24, 9:42 to 9:49 pm, 1400 block of R Street NW (residence).

• Friday, February 25, 11:33 pm, 2700 block of P Street NW: “MPD units received a call for a burglar alarm in the listed area and while responding to the scene, they observed a subject carrying a television set. The subject was detained and after confirming the property was stolen from the home the suspect was arrested and charged accordingly. This is a closed case.”

Stolen Auto
