Another White House A-Lister in the Hood?

The Washington Post reported last week that Jeremy Bernard will be the new White House social secretary– the first openly gay person to serve in that job. The former L.A. resident and fundraiser for the Democratic Party will be returning from a diplomatic post in Paris. But the question we have: Will Bernard return to Logan Circle? The Post article said that Bernard and his former partner, Rufus Gifford (they recently split) had lived in the hood when they moved here from California two years ago: “The couple settled into a trendy “green” building on Logan Circle with their beagle, Lucas.”

Street Sweeping Starts Tuesday, March 1: Move Your Car!

The DC Department of Public Works begins eight months of street sweeping tomorrow. A number of new streets will receive weekly cleanings this year, according to Public Words. In addition, the schedule may have changed for some streets/blocks — so you would be well advised to check out the new street signs where you park your car. You don’t want to get a ticket and you don’t want your car towed!

Two ANC Meetings This Week

Two Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) meetings are on the schedule this week. ANC 2B-Logan meets Wednesday, March 2, at 7 pm; location is the Washington Plaza Hotel, 10 Thomas Circle NW. ANC 1B (which includes the U Street corridor) meets Thursday, March 3 at 7 pm; location is the Reeves Municipal Center, 14th and U Streets NW.

HR-57: Sign is Gone, Where’s the H Street Location?

HR-57 officially closed its doors late last year at 1610 14th Street NW. We noticed over the weekend that the sign is now gone from above the door. The bigger question is, When will HR-57 reopen on H Street NE? Anyone know anything? There are no updates on the club’s website.

“I Miss Fenty” Bumperstickers

Well, that didn’t take long. I Miss Fenty bumperstickers are being sold at Not surprising as these types of political paraphanalia are easier than ever to produce an sell. It will be more interesting to see if they start to pop up around town — especially considering the rather unpleasant week that new Mayor Vincent Gray had last week with the Sulaimon Brown affair.

Update on “Fully Loaded” Brown

We’re not even going to mention Council Chairman Kwame “Fully Loaded” Brown. Oops! We just did! Check out the video over at Washington City Paper of Brown taking delivery of that Navigator (sort of).
