Ahhh, the weekend in between Mardi Gras and Saint Patty’s Day. Are we going to even try to venture out this weekend, or will it be spent catching up on sleep, movies and Vitamin C?
If you’re on the fence, I’d encourage you to make it out this weekend. Here are some ideas for local, low-key fun.
If you’re going out on Friday night, check out On & On at BlackCat, featuring funky house, hip-hop, electrofunk and other disco jams courtesy of DJs Autorock and Danny Harris of Fatback fame. Doors are at 9:30 and tickets sold that night are $5.
On Saturday, March 12, make sure to check out The Capitol Deal‘s Mid-City Shop & Save Showcase from noon to 7 pm.
Local businesses including Urban Essentials, Toucan Boutique, Rue 14, Pulp, Caramel, Dr K’s Vintage, Redeem, Miss Pixie’s Home Furnishings, Junction Vintage, Lettie Gooch, Passport Clothing, Habitat Live & Wear, Hilda’s Gift Shop and Sukio Design have teamed up with The Capitol Deal (since we’re all about group purchasing power these days). Here are the participating businesses on a special Google Map.
There will be specials all day — just look for the black, purple, and green balloons. Vouchers to participating stores will be available for purchase starting Thursday at The Capitol Deal’s website. It’s a great way to support local businesses!
