Two Endorsements for Weaver in April 26 Special Election
With just days to go before the April 26 special election for the At-Large DC City Council seat, the Washington City Paper and Greater Greater Washington have endorsed candidate Bryan Weaver. Earlier this month The Washington Post endorsed candidate Patrick Mara; the lone Republican in the field of nine candidates. Borderstan profiled candidates Bryan Weaver, Patrick Mara and Josh Lopez. All polling locations will be open from 7 am to 8 pm next Tuesday.
Pay for Parking Goes Mobile
The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced an expanded pay-by-phone parking program. The pilot program was a success and is now being implemented city-wide. Drivers will need to register with Parkmobile, the vendor for the program, and then they will be able to pay by mobile phone for time at any of the city’s 17,000 metered spots. Mobile apps for the iPhone, Android, and Blackberry are also available.
DC State Fair Call for Volunteers
What? You didn’t know DC had a State Fair? The first DC State Fair was held last August and the volunteer organizers are hoping to make the Fair this fall even better. Among the committees you can become involved with are; contests, community engagement, events and development.
