It’s RAMMY Season – Vote With Your Gut
Remember when we told you that a bunch of Borderstan restaurants were nominated for RAMMYs? Well this year, public votes will determine the outcome of four categories — Hottest Restaurant Bar Scene, Neighborhood Gathering Place, Power Spot and the Your Favorite Restaurant, a “write-in” category. So go “Eat the Vote” from April 28 to May 5. According the RAMMY website there will be, “creative events full of food and cocktail specials and energetic fun.” Yeah.
DC State Fair Seed Swap
The DC State Fair might seem like it’s far away, but if you’re a gardener who wants to enter some plants into competition, now is the time for action! On May 14 the State Fair folks will be hosting a seedling swap at Columbia Heights Community Marketplace, 14th Street and Park Road NW, from 10 am to noon. Swap seedlings, gardening tricks and make some new friends.
National Zoo Goes Into Crisis Mode
After a very sad, very unfortunate stabbing at the National Zoo on Monday, the Zoo’s director, Dennis Kelly, said they’ll need “to reevaluate for the future” when speaking about security measures at the facility. Not the kind of PR the Zoo needs right before tourist season, that’s for sure.
Real Estate History Could Be Yours
Urban Turf reports that Bob Woodward’s Watergate-era condo is up for sale, and yep, it’s right in our hood. His former 500-square foot studio (apparently in need of some love and renovation) can be found at 1718 P Street NW in Dupont Circle and is going for a cool $215,000. Only in D.C. is this a selling point.
