From Luis Gomez. Check out my slide show of Saturday’s UHOP Parade.

The annual parade of the United House of Prayer For All People drew thousands of marchers from congregations around the country on Saturday. The congregation is based in D.C. in the Shaw neighborhood.

The group kicked its march from 6th and M Streets NW and and made its way through Shaw and Logan Circle before returning to its headquarters. It took about 75 minutes for the 15 bands, choruses and congregants to make their way around Logan Circle.

“Sweet Daddy” Grace, the founder of the denomination lived at 11 Logan Circle NW and the church still owns the house; Cultural Tourism DC has a good write up about Grace and the history of the house.

  1. Great shots. We love this parade, but missed it this year. I’ll bet their big finale–firehose baptism in the street–felt better than ever this year.
