The DC State Fair is less than two months away and the team behind the event is working harder than ever to bring us an event even bigger and badder than last year. This year the fair will feature more tents, more contests, and even a dedicated DC State Fair mini-stage where folks can taste the best D.C. has to offer.
The DC State Fair, as with any state fair, celebrates the home-grown talents of D.C.’s residents. The community is invited to come join in the fun as bakers, gardeners, crafters, photographers and home-brewers compete for prizes, glory and bragging rights at work.
In an effort to raise funds to make the DC State Fair the best it can be, the group will be holding a bake sale this Sunday, July 17 from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. on the patio at Zorba’s Cafe just north of Dupont Circle (1612 20th Street NW just off Connecticut Avenue). So far they’ve confirmed pies, cookies, scones, chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal cream pies, zucchini whoopie pies and dark chocolate peanut butter cup cookies, and that treats from Whisked will be sold, but the list grows daily! You might find a snackeroo from yours truly for sale out there too!
Any baked goods that are not sold will be donated to N Street Village, which is a a community for homeless and low-income women in D.C.
