Greetings, Borderstanis. Hope you all made it through last week’s earthquake relatively unscathed.

A natural disaster is usually a great way to end a season and begin a new one. While we’re a few weeks away from summer’s last hurrah, it’s definitely time to start thinking about our fall wardrobes. As an aside, isn’t autumn wonderful?

It’s by far my favorite season. Maybe it’s because of my stunted adolescence, but, for me, fall always harkens back to new beginnings and new opportunities; and not to mention corduroys, cardigans, argyle socks, scarves and all that lovely layering.

Since the best. Season. EVER! is almost upon us, I’m going to spend the next several weeks recommending a handful of autumn essentials, starting from the bottom up. (Oh, I totally hear you snickering back there, BTW).

Today, we’re going to focus on the must-have footwear for the upcoming crisp weather. You may remember, months ago, I endorsed this pair of oxfords for the spring and summer. While the oxford is traditionally a shoe for the warmer months, Cole Haan has come out with the perfect version for fall:

The shoes’ dusty black color with the subtly stylish plaid make them perfect for pairing with your gray flannel suit, a pair of brown cords or dark denim. And since Cole Haan partners with Nike on a significant amount of footwear, the Air Colton Saddle shoes are as comfortable as they are fashionable.

That’s it for me this week, folks. See you next time as I work my way up to the ideal autumn wardrobe.
