October 5: Ross Elementary Participating in Walk to School Day
If you see gaggles of kids in the Dupont-Logan area walking to school together on Wednesday, they’re probably part of International Walk to School Day. One local school participating in the October 5 event is Ross Elementary on R Street NW. Ross also participates in the Safe Routes Program.
On October 5, students will walk, bike or scoot to school. The purpose of the program is to enhance the health of students, improve air quality in neighborhoods and to build safety awareness among families.
Meeting Places
There are three meeting places for Ross students on Wednesday morning. Students are asked to meet at 8:25 am at one of three locations:
- East: DC Jewish Community Center Steps at 16th and Q Streets NW
- North: T Street Park at 17th Street and New Hampshire Avenue NW (north and east of the Dog Park)
- Southwest: St. Thomas Episcopal Church at 18th and Church Streets NW (yard on the 18th Street side)
