The Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra plays every Monday night from 8 to 11 pm. But this Monday, December 19, they will be playing holiday classics. Included are Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn’s “Nutcracker Suite,” Claude Thornhill and Stan Kenton’s “Merry Christmas” album, as well as original holiday arrangement from band members including Amy Bormet and Joe Herrera.

BCJO is the Caverns resident 17-piece big band co-founded by baritone saxophonist Brad Linde, trumpeter Joe Herrera and club owner Omrao Brown. Location is the northeast corner of 11th and U Streets NW.

The club has a long and quite famous history: Bohemian Caverns opened in 1926, closed in 1968 and the reopened 30 years later.
