Wednesday: MOVA Hosting Happy Hour for DC Queer Theatre Festival

Tonight, Wednesday, May9, MOVA is hosting a happy hour for the DC Queer Theatre Festival. Meet the folks who are organizing the first DC Queer Theatre Festival. Festivities begin at 6:30 pm at MOVA, 2204 14th Street NW. The event is free.

According to the organizers, “The DC Queer Theatre Festival unleashes and celebrates the underrepresented voices and diversity of our artists, audiences, and community.”

In conjunction with CenterArts at The DC Center, the DC Queer Theatre Festival will be presenting two nights of queer plays by playwrights in DC, Maryland and Virginia.

The first annual festival is May 18-19 and includes play readings with panel discussions at the DC Center for the LGBT community at 1318 U Street NW. Find out more at www.dcqueertheatrefest.org.

MOVA DC Relocation; Miami Beach Location Wins “Favorite Bar in USA”

MOVA in DC was formerly located on the 1400 block of P Street before relocating to the bustling 14th Street corridor, just north of W Street NW. It’s sister bar in Miami Beach recently won an award for “Favorite Bar in the USA” from from readers of Edge Magazine.

In addition, Edge voters selected MOVA Lounge D.C.’s resident Friday night DJ Scotty Thomson as DJ of the Year. Thomson spins every third Friday night during MOVA Lounge’s weekly Co-Op Fridays party.
