As the 12 days of Capital Pride come to a close, make sure to mark your calendar for its largest event: The Capital Pride Festival.
On Sunday, June 10, join more than 250,000 people for a day-long celebration in front of our nation’s Capitol on Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 3rd and 7th Streets.
This year’s Pride Festival includes an inaugural Art Fair, as well as a full day of music, food, entertainment and education. Deborah Cox, a multi-platinum selling R&B singer, will headline the entertainment.
The Festival begins at 11 am and goes until 6 pm. It is open to everyone and is a family friendly event. However, due to DC’s summer heat and hot asphalt, organizers of the festival encourage participants to leave their four-legged family members at home.
New Areas at Festival
- [email protected] features local chef tastings and a Barefoot Wine sangria bar for just $20. Participating restaurants include Boqueria, Dirty Martini, Luke’s Lobster, Georgetown Cupcakes and 360.
- The Demonstration Tent will highlight the talents of our local community in dancesport, roller derby, square dancing, fitness, and line dancing.
- The Family Area will have large inflatables, crafts and games, and resources for LGBT families.
Attendees are encouraged to take Metro transportation since parking is limited. The closest stops to the Festival entrance are Archives/Navy Memorial (Green and Yellow lines) and Judiciary Square (Red line).
