If your past few trips to Black Jack have left you feeling like you could sharpen your bocce ball skills, perhaps you should consider joining the DC Bocce League’s summer season. Registration for the summer season closes on Friday, July 6 at midnight.

The organized league prides itself on connecting community members, donating to charity and having fun in a backyard party atmosphere. The group is large (the nation’s biggest organized bocce league, to be exact), but members can sign-up to play in specific divisions. The Dupont Division plays Thursday nights at 6:30 and 7:30 pm at Rose Park, 2710 O Street NW.

Games begin the week of July 16 and teams play once a week for six weeks, followed by a single elimination play-off tournament.  Registration is $65 for the season and includes premium beer specials, a team t-shirt and entry to the End of Season Charity Tournament.

Maybe next time you are at a neighborhood party or a bar outfitted with a bocce court, you will own the bocce bragging rights.
